By the time of the 2014 Dublin Marathon, the rules had crystalised - the costume had to be:
- Instantly recognisable to the average person,
- Family-friendly and uncontroversial,
- Wildly impractical to run in.
Steve, the affectionate name for the 2014 Lego minifig costume, met all of these criteria. By far the most visually striking costume to date, and the most popular with all ages, Steve unfortunately suffered catastrophic failure about 10 miles into the race, in the Pheonix Park.
